Context

With Trump’s announcement to declare Jerusalem the capital of Israel and move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, some evangelical Christians are gleeful about provoking war over the city because, in their worldview, the sooner Armageddon happens, the sooner Christ will return and save them, through the Rapture of the saints, from having to endure the suffering of the coming Apocalypse and the end of the world. Given this assumed chronology of events, Christians need not worry about climate change because that is not their problem. For them, it is moot. The coming cataclysm will be God’s judgment on the unbelievers. Christians have prayed the prayer and they have their fire insurance, their get out of hell free card. So, they’re good.
